Jaspreet Sidhu decided to get involved in Student Government “because I have always been interested in taking a bigger role in school, and the events we put on,” she said. “I started student government in ninth grade and it’s been a big part of my life ever since.” Being part of Student Government is something she would encourage others to do. “As soon as you get out of that comfort zone, you start to grow as a leader and become more confident,” said Sidhu.

This year, she is serving the Class of ’20 as the treasurer. “My role is to help budget the events we put on and request for purchase orders. I was interested because this role in itself is a big responsibility, and I wanted to take on the challenge and help myself become a better leader.”

Being part of Student Government is good practice for this future Political Science major who plans to pursue a career in pharmacy or optometry when all of her schooling is done. She also plans to continue participating in Student Government in college. She said that her family inspires her to do her best and never give up and, despite the challenges of this very unusual school year, she has lived up to those expectations.
