Like many of the events in the end of March, the Special Olympics Track & Field Day will be postponed until 2021.

One of the most recent casualties of the COVID-19 virus is the third annual Special Olympics Track and Field event, originally scheduled for Thursday, March 26. Special Education students from schools around the district, including Armijo, Fairfield and Rodriguez High Schools, Grange and Crystal Middle Schools, H. Glenn Richardson Elementary and David Weir Preparatory Academy, were expected to compete at Rodriguez High School from 10 am to 1 pm. At the closing ceremonies, all student participants have received ribbons for their effort and integrity.

In the past, this event has included over 300 participants and family and friends were encouraged to attend at no cost, but this year the event will be on hiatus.
