AHS shares latest update for closures and cancellations
March 13, 2020
Dear Armijo Families,
The wellbeing of our community remains a top priority. Feeling the increased concern for keeping our students, families, and staff healthy, FSUSD is adhering to the most recent guidelines published by California public health officials that call for non-essential public gatherings of more than 250 people to be canceled or postponed. Essential gatherings, such as school, are not included in this recommendation. The following are some of the ways these guidelines will affect Armijo:
- The March 14 Spring Fling Dance is cancelled
- March 14 SATs are cancelled
- The Science Fair will be set up but will be closed to students, families, and community We will strive to provide a video of the exhibits.
- Special Olympics Track and Field, March 26, hosted by Rodriguez, is cancelled.
- More information will be shared regarding the March 18 music event and the March 25 music event
- All field trips are cancelled.
- We are suspending work from volunteers at this time.
- The English Language Learner Reclassification Ceremony on April 6 is cancelled.
- Athletic events will be closed to spectators if the anticipated number of people on campus – with athletes and staff included – exceeds 250.
In addition to limiting large non-essential gatherings, our custodial staff is taking extra precaution in sanitizing our facility. Door handles, railings, and other well-used surfaces are being sprayed regularly with disinfectant. In alignment with the guidelines, we encourage everyone to wash hands frequently, to stay home when not feeling well, and to seek medical advice when appropriate.
This situation remains fluid and I will communicate any updates as I receive them. I want to thank you for your attention to our COVID-19 communications, for your flexibility, and for your partnership.
Sincerely,
Sheila Smith, Principal
