Golf teaches many things, patience not the least of the lessons.

This may be the first year that Andrew Kohler has played for the Armijo Boys’ Golf team, but he is already picking favorites. His favorite club, for instance, is his 7-iron.

He’s actually been playing golf for many years. His biggest inspiration is his grandfather, who got him started on the links when he was only nine years old. His grandfather was the one who taught Koehler the love of the game, but this is the first time he has played competitively.

Kohler said that he really appreciates the golf program at Armijo and wouldn’t change anything about it. He likes the being part of the team and said that his teammates are really nice. He also said that Coach Robert Steen is pretty good choice to lead the team.

His advice for newer golf players is just to break your wrist – figuratively and not literally – and you’ll hit the ball. While golf is often shown as a game of long hits, Koehler personally sees himself as a putter more than anything else.
