Could your wildest dream become a nightmare?

From 1977 to 1984, there was a TV series by the name of Fantasy Island. The show usually portrayed people discovering that their fondest dreams and desires were not what truly mattered, but the latest thriller by that name takes the island of dreams and makes those dreams turn into nightmares.

Fantasy Island, which came to theaters on Friday, February 14, is horror film with many twists and turns. It features the enigmatic Mr. Roarke who makes the secret dreams of his lucky guests come true at a luxurious but remote tropical resort. When the fantasies turn into nightmares, the guests have to solve the island’s mystery in order to escape with their lives.

The movie stars Lucy Hale, Portia Doubleday, Maggie Q, Michael Peña, Jimmy O. Yang, Austin Stowell, and Ryan Hansen.

The movie was only given a 10% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but I don’t agree with that evaluation. I honestly feel like this movie was very interesting and always kept me on the edge of my seat. It made me anxious at some points, and excited for the characters that were going through different adventures. There was always something going on and the plot was new and different.

I’m giving Fantasy a seven out of ten because I personally couldn’t focus on some of the plots twists. Instead, I kept thinking of some plot holes, and I found some characters’ awkward. The only character I found to be kind of cringy was Melanie Cole, played by Lucy Hale. That may be because it felt weird seeing Lucy Hale (who was most recently in Truth or Dare and Dude) play a rebellious or edgy character.

In conclusion, I would recommend Fantasy Island to anyone who loves thrillers or horror movies with comedy, action, adventure, twists, and turns, movies that make you feel as if you are part of the action.
