California Love (on Feb. 22)!

National California Day is on February 22 and on that day people across the country can recognize the Golden State and celebrate its beauty.

California, the 31st state, became part of the United States in 1850 and was one of the first states to have a National Day named in its honor. By 2017, however, more states started celebrating their own National Day.

Our state does have its own Instagram tag that goes with it using #nationalcaliforniaday. With that hashtag, people can post landscapes and other pictures that represent the positive aspects of our state. People can celebrate this holiday with food that is distinctly Californian or visiting historical locations throughout the state. “[I] go to the national forest,” said Paulina Sierra. “[I] go to Pittsburg to visit family,” Brandon Morgan said.

Each state has a National Day now. Does your birthday fall on one of them?
