Wonder is loosely based on the book with the same title by R. J. Palacio. The movie begins with Auggie Pullman (Jacob Tremblay) a brainy Star Wars geek with Treacher Collins Syndrome, which lead him to have numerous correctional surgeries throughout his life. Auggie has been homeschooled by his mother, Isabel Pullman (Julia Roberts), but now
that he’s 10, she and his father, Nate Pullman (Owen Wilson), decide to enroll him into a preparatory middle school. He didn’t fit in his first few weeks due to him being different from the other kids.

They bullied him to a point where he didn’t want to attend school, even though he had been looking forward to it all his life. The bullies continuously harassed him, until eventually he found some genuine friends who overlooked his condition and treated him just like everyone else.

This movie teaches many valuable lessons on kindness. Not only that, but it shows that you don’t have to fit in with everyone else. Wonder was released on November 17, 2017, in theatres where it made $132.4 million in the US and Canada. Plugged In magazine said, “Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson earnestly pour their hearts into this poignant, realistic story about a son who is different,” and Empire said that it “sometimes over-plays its hand but, anchored by a terrific Jacob Tremblay, Wonder is a warm persuasive argument for tolerance.” You won’t regret watching this movie if you want a good laugh, and cry.
