Custodian Steven Haynes is the face of Random Acts of Kindness at AHS

When Armijo students hear about kindness at school, many of them think of Mr.  Steve Haynes, our head custodian.  He is always doing something amazing to spread kindness around our school.  For example, in December, Mr. Haynes came around to different classrooms dressed as Santa Claus, and he passed around candy canes to students and wished them a merry Christmas.  “I hope every one of you will have a great break and a great holiday season full of joy,” he said.

Some more casual acts of kindness are when Mr. Haynes says good morning to every student as he or she walks into school in the mornings.

We can all do things like this to spread the kindness and make our school a happier place.  Melissa Theodorus said, “I would definitely like to see more kindness at school, I feel like it would make it a lot easier to look forward to going to school rather than hating school.”

To create more stories about random acts of kindness, there are simple things you can do as you walk around school.  You can say hello to people that you walk by as you travel to your classes.  If someone drops something, you can pick it up for them.  When you look at someone and notice something you like about them, try complimenting them on it.

We should all try being nicer to each other, not just during Random Acts of Kindness week, but all of the time.
