A familiar story takes a haunting twist in this new movie.

The movie Gretel and Hansel, which opened in theaters on Friday, January 31, is a scary movie about two children whose mother has gone crazy and they have to take care of themselves. While it has some similarities to the Grimm Brothers’ fairy tale, it is definitely not designed for children.

“The movie was terrifying and fun to watch with friends,” said Azucena Gomez. “It was very entertaining. It’s a good movie to watch with not only your friends but with your family too, but maybe not for little kids because it’ll give them nightmares.”

In the story, the girl (Gretel – played by Sophia Lillis) leads her brother, Hansel (played by Sammy Leakey) into the forest in search of food and jobs so that they can earn money. As the two scared children search around the forest, they come upon a mystical house filled with food. There they meet the witch, Holda (played by Alice Krige).

The film is directed by Oz Perkins a range of movies in a range of genres. His more popular hits include Legally Blonde, Psycho II and Not Just Another Teen Movie. ones include is the Director of the Movie Gretel and Hansel. His most recent movies are The Blackcoat’s Daugher and I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House.

The movie was brought to life in a scary way and entertained people with a fairy tale story and a horror story all rolled into one.
