Kahleel has been volunteering in preparation of his future career.

Khaleel Rashid volunteers for the Fairfield Fire Explorer Post 8651 (FFD). He got involved in the volunteer work during his sophomore year. Rashid chooses to volunteer to give back to the community and to possibly become a hero someday by helping as many people as possible. “I want to be the person that helps in the situation instead of recording,” he said.

Every Wednesday, from 6 to 9 pm, Rashid goes to fire stations for drill nights. There are seven stations here in Fairfield (Station 35, 37, 38, 39, 40, and 41). Every month, Rashid learns different topics, studying ladders, ventilation, and other topics.

The fire station isn’t all that Rashid participates in. He also participates in extracurricular activities, including the Nurse Ambassador club at Armijo.

After graduation, Rashid plans to become a Firefighter Paramedic for a local fire department.

“If you plan on volunteering for any organization, go for it!” said Rashid. “Don’t wait till last minute…Enjoy the experience with the new people you meet!”
