Giving back to the community for Thanksgiving.

Tuesday, December 3 is National Giving Day, a time where people around the world are encouraged to give to people who are in need. It’s a global day dedicated to giving back.

Recipients and participants of this generosity can be families, businesses, communities, or students. Creating this day with a common purpose allows people to celebrate generosity with time, goods or money. “Giving back and seeing a big smile on their face as they receive their gift is so touching,” said Eduardo XXXX. People around the world help children by donating gifts or goods to them, just in time for the holidays.

This event was created when two organizations, the 92nd street YMCA and the United Nations Foundation, came together in 2012. About a month before Thanksgiving, they had an idea to have a day for just giving back to people who are in need of things. “Not a lot of people can get everything from their family if they can’t afford it,” said Natalie XXXX. “Giving to others can make them have a smile on their face because their dream has come true.”
