The top California University offers diversity for the top California students.

“Located between San Francisco and San Jose in the heart of Silicon Valley, Stanford University is recognized as one of the world’s leading research and teaching institutions,” states the university website.

The school is located in Palo Alto and has been opening its doors to new students since October 1st, 1891. The first student body consisted of 559 men and women, and the original faculty of 15 was expanded to 49 for the second year. Today nearly 17,000 undergraduates and about 8,000 attend the university.

“Our students have opportunities to participate in a remarkable range of activities: from academic courses taught by renowned professors and opportunities for research, independent study and public service to an extraordinary breadth of extracurricular activities,” the website stated in 2010. Stanford offers courses ranging from film and media studies to geophysics and much more. “The first-year experience at Stanford is supported by the celebration of the extraordinary talents of the diverse students, faculty and organizations that attract excellent speakers, performers and scholars from around the world.” Undergraduate students have many unique experiences and opportunities at Stanford.

Although Stanford offers many fun activities, it is also a very serious school. The average high school GPA to be accepted at Stanford is 4.18, according to https://magoosh.com and the ACT or the SAT test are required of all undergraduate applicants, with acceptance scores of 33 or 1520 respectively.
