Restaurant Review: Sweet and Fresh

Since the 2007 opening of Smitten, a local ice creamery, the way ice cream has been created and savored was transformed throughout the Bay Area. The founder, Robyn Sue Fisher, got her spark to create Smitten by wanting to make all the ingredients in ice cream natural and actually pronounceable!!!

She began by using fresh berries along with organic milk and cream. The first steps to her now booming business started in her backyard after grade school after which she then started selling her ice cream in a wagon. The popularity of her ice cream grew immensely.

Robyn confirms that the values of Smitten includes using “the highest-quality, fresh ingredients, including organic milk and cream and locally sourced produce.” Through the small starts and hard work it took to begin the business, Robyn achieved the SUCCESS she was looking for.

Having visited Smitten both in San Francisco and Lafayette (Smitten also has an Oakland location and a second one in two San Francisco), I can agree full-heartedly that Smitten ice cream (especially the TCHO chocolate w/ spicy caramel) is nothing like I have ever had before! Not only that, but the ice cream is churned right in front of you!

I have no idea what the big secret is, but Smitten is fantastic and I highly recommend it!
