Kayla has found a niche in throwing heavy objects well.

Last year, Kayla Crain was on the JV Softball team, but this year, her sport of choice is Track. “I haven’t gone to any championships, but I hope to in the future,” she said.

Crain has an important role on the team. The sport is called “Track and Field” and her favorite event is discus. It is one of the important “Field” events. She also throws shotput. While she doesn’t plan to continue in these events in college, she did say that she would be willing to if she were to earn a scholarship in the sport.

“I was really hesitant with joining, but I’m having fun and I love my teammates,” she said. Her suggestion for those who are hesitant? “You should just go for it… try to convince a friend to do it with you!” In a recent meet against Vanden, Crain created a great memory, and a personal record, in her shotput throw.

“Besides Track, I go to the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) club, but other than that I’m not really involved in anything,” she said. While she does plan to go to college when she graduates from high school, she said that she wasn’t sure where or what she will study. She does believe that her education will continue at some college in Southern California.

Crain has four sisters (Tricell, 32; Traci, 25; Alyssa, 25; Erica, 25; and Kendyl, 13) and one step-brother (Antonio, 20), but even with so many people to choose from, she had no problem in identifying her mother as her role model. “She sacrifices a lot for me,” she said.
