Cassandra Clare is the popular Young Adult author of The Mortal Instruments series that includes City of Bones, City of Ashes and City of Glass, books that she describes as Urban Fantasy. She has also written series known as The Infernal Devices, The Dark Artifices, The Last Hours and The Bane Chronicles. She has also written The Shadowhunter’s Codex and, with Holly Black, she has co-authored The Magisterium series.

Although she is an American, Clare was born in Iran and has traveled about the world, learning about different cultures as part of her own time growing up. Books and stories, both reading them and writing them, gave her comfort and solace.
