Fantasy takes us far away and is as close as your local library.

All of us have experienced the wonders of childlike fantasy. We watch the classic Disney movies portraying the idea of romantic true love as well as love between friends and family. Movies such as Harry Potter take us on magical adventures to fight against evil. We watch movies with superheroes that face challenges but always end up saving the day.

Fantasy is a wonderful world. Children are not the only ones that can experience these magical journeys. As a high schooler, the love of reading can take one on many different adventures. Many students are turned away from the enjoyment of reading because of the connection it has with schoolwork, possibly sitting in a boring English class. However, there are so many books out there to choose from.

According to many authors and teachers, fantasy is critical to the development of our critical thinking and imagination. Next time you find yourself looking for something to do, pick up a book- adventure is waiting!
