How do you plan to stay connected to students to make sure their voices are heard?
At the class level, having a multitude of outlets for students to voice their opinions is vital. There is many resources we have already, just needing to apply them. Every student has access to their student email, which can be the best way to send out mass messages for all to receive. Through sending emails to students’ accounts will be beneficial on having the students voice their opinions on matters via Google Forms or another survey. It is best to utilize our best form of communication.
Although most students are signed up for probably one per class, Remind 101 is a great tool to have students of the Class of 2018 to sign up for. More effective in the way students receive a notification on their phones instead of an email.

What, in our opinion, are the three most important issues facing students at Armijo High School and how will you address it?

One of the most prominent issues facing Armijo’s students is lack of motivation and school spirit. At the class level, holding a position and working with the leadership class, we can change this. By promoting activities not only between leadership and non-leadership students, but activities between different social groups/interests and different programs will give the students something to look forward to.

Another major problem facing the student population is the negative viewpoints of the leadership program as a whole. As the seniors next year we will have the most impact on the whole student body. Increasing interaction between groups and increasing communication can make an impact on what students think of our program. Not trying to fix the problem on our own, but solving it with everybody.

Lastly, the biggest problem I see facing Armijo students is that they are not enjoying high school. High school is suppose to be the four years of our life your remember the most. It is sad to see somebody walk away not feeling content with their high school years. The change this, an approach I would take is to cater our events and activities to the interests and desires of the students instead of ours. Since the events we put on as a class are more limited than big leadership, changing some of the things we do in class can spark a huge change in the attitudes of the students.

What are your top priorities for the position you will hold?

My top priorities for the position I desire to hold are:
Increasing interactions between outside students and building real relationships
Changing the current perspective of Armijo’s leadership program
Making sure the student’s’ senior year is as best as possible
